The abiotic resources trajectory aims at utilizing the skills and experience of the offshore industry in novel emerging sectors in line with the Green New Deal.
The offshore sector has developed over the years an enormous experience in the design, construction and installation of infrastructures that can be now utilized for the colocation of different renewable technologies ad well as for their integration with aquaculture plants.
The seabed is still almost completely unexplored and potentially rich in important resources. Fundamental in these processes will be the assessment, monitoring and management of the environmental impact.
The trajectory focuses also the reuse of end-of-life offshore platforms (marine research labs, CO2 underground storage, renewables, aquaculture).
The themes of CO2 offshore storage and sustainable deep sea mining are also included in the trajectory.
