Trajectory 5 – Renewable energies from the sea
The Marine Renewable Energy sector is one of the emerging and rapidly expanding sectors of the blue economy at an international level. Thanks to the technological development achieved, the high-power density available over large marine regions and the current forecasting capabilities of marine and weather phenomena, the exploitation of the marine energy resource has become a concrete reality.
The trajectory deals with the development of low-cost marine renewables considering the whole life cycle; exploitation of tidal and wave energy applied to higher-energy cost geographical areas (such as islands); integration of renewable power production and desalination technologies.
The development of new efficient technologies for the installation, operation and maintenance of marine energy production plants can represent an important asset to be addressed also to the international market.
