L’8 e il 9 ottobre si è tenuto a Bruxelles il kick-off meeting del consorzio europeo del progetto I3FLOAT, segnando l’avvio di un’ambiziosa iniziativa della durata di 36 mesi, cofinanziata dall’Unione Europea attraverso il programma Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) – Strand 1, gestito dall’European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA).
Con la partecipazione di 24 partner provenienti da otto regioni, I3FLOAT si concentrerà sul rafforzamento e la crescita della catena del valore europea dell’eolico offshore galleggiante, attraverso investimenti nell’innovazione interregionale. Il progetto mira ad accelerare la commercializzazione di soluzioni innovative, rafforzare la cooperazione tra gli ecosistemi regionali e favorire la partecipazione attiva delle PMI, in particolare nelle regioni meno sviluppate.
Il consorzio è strutturato in quattro Innovation Hub — Paesi Baschi (Spagna), Andalusia (Spagna), Occitania/PACA (Francia) e Fiandre (Belgio) — che guideranno lo sviluppo di soluzioni in linea con le sfide tecnologiche del settore.
A questi si affiancano quattro Connecting Node — Isole Canarie (Spagna), Campania (Italia), Pomerania Occidentale (Polonia) e Varna (Bulgaria) — che avranno il compito di favorire la replicazione delle innovazioni e potenziare la crescita del settore nei rispettivi territori.
Durante l’incontro, i partner hanno definito le linee strategiche di lavoro, che includono il lancio di bandi aperti per finanziare progetti guidati da PMI, lo sviluppo di strumenti di trasferimento interregionale, servizi di supporto alle imprese e la definizione di una roadmap per il settore europeo dell’eolico galleggiante.

On October 8th and 9th, the European I3FLOAT project consortium held its kick-off meeting in Brussels, marking the start of an ambitious 36-month initiative co-funded by the European Union through the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) – Strand 1 program, managed by European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA).
With the participation of 24 partners from eight regions, I3FLOAT will focus on strengthening and scaling the European floating offshore wind value chain through investments in interregional innovation. The project seeks to accelerate the commercialization of innovative solutions, enhance cooperation between regional ecosystems, and encourage the active participation of SMEs, especially in less developed regions.
The consortium is structured into 4 Innovation Hubs—the Basque Country (Spain), Andalusia (Spain), Occitania/PACA (France), and Flanders (Belgium)—which will lead the development of solutions aligned with the sector’s technological challenges.
In addition, 4 additional Connecting Nodes—the Canary Islands (Spain), Campania (Italy), Western Pomerania (Poland), and Varna (Bulgaria)—will act as facilitators to replicate these innovations and strengthen the sector’s growth in their territories.
During the meeting, the partners defined strategic lines of work, including the launch of open calls to finance SME-led projects, the development of interregional transfer tools, business support services, and the development of a roadmap for the European floating wind sector.
